We are excited to tell you about an auction to benefit the New York City Center and the Animal Medical Center’s Human-Animal Bond program. This auction is being held under the auspices of charitybuzz.com. The pieces to be auctioned are unique. These pieces (giclées) were created in celebration of Stephen Sondheim’s 80th birthday. These one-of-a-kind Hirschfelds were created for display at Bergdorf Goodman’s flagship store at 57th Street and 5th Avenue in New York City. Bergdorf Goodman dedicated its world-famous windows to Al Hirschfeld’s renderings of Stephen Sondheim, highlighting New York City Center’s salute to a man whom many consider to be America’s greatest living composer and lyricist. All the Hirschfeld Art is from the Margo Feiden Galleries ltd.

Painstakingly reproduced — and in many cases significantly enlarged — most of these Hirschfeld giclées have been reproduced from photographic negatives of the original Hirschfeld drawings. Many of these gicleés are hand-signed by the stars depicted in them, and some are hand signed by Stephen Sondheim himself! (Please see descriptions attached to each picture at charitybuzz.com.) These one-of-a-kind pieces in our auction will be accompanied by a Certificate of Authenticity from the Margo Feiden Galleries Ltd., New York. The Certificates will be hand-signed by Margo Feiden. The Margo Feiden Galleries Ltd. has represented Al Hirschfeld since 1969, and is the only authorized agent for Al Hirschfeld and his work.
The Hirschfeld/Sondheim Art from the Bergdorf Goodman windows will be auctioned by charitybuzz.com to benefit New York City Center and the Animal Medical Center Human-Animal Bond Program.
