Woody and I grew up in Brooklyn just a few blocks from each other. Although we went to different schools, there was one place we saw each other all the time: The Elm Movie Theatre. This was Brooklyn's "art" movie house, and it was right in our neighborhood. Woody and I "stood out" because we were usually the only kids in the audience. Through the years, we had a "smile-and-wave" relationship.
If we had been able to look into the future, and seen our Hirschfeld portraits, what would we have thought?
